The suspension of 8 chapters of negotiations after EU Summit where relationships with Turkiye were held gave birth to new discussions regarding continuation of negotiations in the future.
Rızabur Meral, the chairman of TUSKON, said that the exact acknowledgement of deciosons made in EU Summit would not cause an interruption in Turkiye’s reform process. Emphasizing that the recent developments were far away from affecting money markets in Turkey, Mr. Meral said that an adverse consideration of these developments
The chairman of TUSKON made some evaluation regarding Turkiye-EU relations after EU summit. “Turkish institutions, whose outstanding performances were praised after screening meetings for chapters which were decided to stay closed, will continue to work on obviating discrepancies” said Mr. Meral. He also added that he hoped the government to give support in endeavors in these unopened chapters.
Being inspired by Oli Rehn’s wide use of football terminology in addressing to EU-Turkiye relations, Mr. Meral summorized both EU’s failure to persuade the Greek side of Cyprus and EU’s decision to increase pressure towards supporting UN-based solution to Cyprus dispute as “we did not lose despite not being the winner”
